Updates and rambling of random thoughts

Coming back from the Dominican Republic and getting back in the swing of school went pretty well, nothing really to speak of. I just found out we are going back to Haiti where our trip will include two different cities. I am also going to do all I can to go to Honduras with the Digital Media department this January where we will go scuba diving and take underwater video and photos.

It seems crazy to think that only a year ago I had no real desire to leave the country.  Someone as adventurous as myself would have to be out of their mind not to want to explore other countries and experience other cultures and such. I'm really not sure what I was thinking, I'll have to go back and look at what I wrote because all I can remember was not really caring about going until like the week before when it really started to hit me.

I'm kind of glad that no one reads this blog, it makes it easier to be as honest as I am. I think I'm entering a phase of my life where I'm going to become one of those really outdoorsy guys, hopefully without all the stupid naturey nerdy stuff. I guess I envision myself as a legit rock climber, kayaker, mountain biker, kind of guy and hopefully a full time surfer in the coming years.

As much as it scares me to say, I think I'm turning in to my father, thats not necessarily a bad thing though, I look up to him in so many ways. But I think that the man I want to become is the man that he was at the age that I am if that makes sense.  I think the reason he quit rock climbing and repelling and white water rafting is that he and my mom had me. I guess that's what happens when you have kids though, you have to give up on your own dreams. That might be cool for some people, but not for me. Not to say that giving up on what you love to take care of who you love is easy, but I would rather take care of most of my own dreams and then start a family.

Maybe now that I am nearly out of college and my sister is nearly in college, I can try to get my dad back in to doing the stuff that he loved to do before I was born...I'll have to see
